Lexington Cemetery hosts Easter Sunrise Services
Lexington, KY-Four local churches and the Salvation Army have conducted Easter Sunrise Services at The Lexington Cemetery for more than a decade.
According to Reverend Woody Barry, the pastor at Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church, "there is absolutely no more beautiful place than The Lexington Cemetery to celebrate the resurrection of Christ."
"Contrary to what many believe about a cemetery reflecting the symbolism of death, people who attend a sunrise service on Easter morning at The Lexington Cemetery indicate that they believe there are many symbolisms of life in their community burial grounds," Rev. Woody said. "In addition to the cemetery being a wonderful and joyous place to celebrate Easter, the location is truly a representation of where the original Easter actually took place...in a garden."
